I don't find such charges to be credible, and I believe that the Turkish Government has erred by proclaiming anyone and everyone involved in the Gulenist religious movement to be part of a conspiracy that put on the coup.

What a tragedy to lose that goodwill and that sense of family that we have had with the Turks.

There is no justification for it, although we have to recognize, as all of our folks have, that they have gone through a trauma.

So we have all kinds of people who had nothing to do with the coup----

So no matter how thuggish the coup was, that can't be an excuse for the tyranny that happened even before it.

So I see we don't know, but one of the reasons we don't know is because the government is cutting off information sources.

It is about the craziest year I have ever seen.

Let's hope that these are the people that come to power not only in Turkey but throughout the Mideast.

If he wants to use this as an excuse to eliminate real democratic rights of his people... it is not only unacceptable, but it is also a historic disaster for the people of Turkey.

If Turkey goes with more radical, more anti-Western forces... the stability that we have had is going to go right out the window.
