On behalf of Chairman Jodey Arrington and the Budget Committee, I am here to present several ideas for the Rules package for the 119th Congress that will ensure greater fiscal accountability and responsibility.

I request that this committee consider a change in the Gift Rule or revise the application and guidelines of that rule to allow for limited support from volunteers for congressional offices, particularly in the district.

Ensuring the accuracy of CBO's modeling, legislative scoring, and academic reports is essential to helping us as legislators make the best and most informed decisions possible.

We need to change the requirement of the congressional budget resolution to include a baseline and a target debt-to-GDP ratio.

Either the fiscal commission is going to be successful or our country's doomed.

I am grateful for this opportunity to chair the Task Force and for your leadership on this Committee.

Such a climate of fear and intimidation on our campuses is unacceptable.

We need more people in our facilities. With the maximum hiring for the duration of the bill, that will help us tremendously.

We would also like to praise the inclusion, during floor debate, of an amendment offered by Reps. Salud Carbajal, Rudy Yakym, and Sharice Davids.

We need to restore fiscal responsibility immediately.

We know what the problem is: the Federal Government spends too much money without regard to our national debt.

Passing policies that consistently increase government spending is not building a better future.

These spending habits have led to serious economic problems, including inflation at a 40 year high under the Biden Administration.

Our Federal debt currently stands at over $33.5 trillion dollars. That equates to a debt-to-GDP ratio of 124 percent.

Veterans' care transcends district and party lines. All of us want to ensure the best care for those that risk their lives to defend our freedoms.

Those who risked their lives in defense of our country deserve positive and fulfilling lives, and the federal government has the responsibility to assist them in their endeavor.

While we must identify and punish those entities who try to take advantage of Veterans, we cannot tolerate persecution of businesses that are doing the right things for our Veterans.

We owe it to him and to his children to fix the VA mental healthcare system.

I have only been in Congress for a few months, but the large number of veterans in crisis is quite alarming.

That might as well be forever for a veteran in crisis.
