Ilhan Omar is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 5th congressional district since January 3, 2019. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, she is one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress. Omar has been an advocate for progressive policies, including healthcare reform, immigration reform, and social justice issues. I think it is also really important for us to remember that this kind of hateful rhetoric and this level of dehumanizing can lead to dangerous actions by people who listen to the President.
