We will win!

Clearly, this is a Hobson’s choice. The CR is a bad bill. But as bad as the CR is, I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option.

For sure, the Republican bill is a terrible option. It is not a clean CR. It is deeply partisan. It doesn’t address far too many of this country’s needs.

That’s probably three nos.

The potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse.

It will support law enforcement and firefighters and teachers and basic city services. This legislation is very good news for the residents of the District of Columbia.

There are no winners in a government shutdown. It’s not really a decision, it’s a Hobson’s choice: Either proceed with the bill before us or risk Donald Trump throwing America into the chaos of a shutdown.

Musk has told everybody he wants a shutdown because he knows it will help him achieve his horrible goal of just decimating the federal government from one end to the other.

If this CR becomes law, Musk and President Trump will be able to fire thousands of employees at the Social Security Administration.

President Trump began breaking the law on day one of his term, and immediately pardoned hundreds of violent criminals upon taking office.

We have a fascist, right-wing dictator in the White House.

We have reached a bipartisan conclusion to go forward, in a modest way, but it would have some impact in improving health care in America, and my Republican colleague objects. That’s about it.

I want to target waste and abuse.

So, this is like telling someone’s city council what their total budget cap is, which is just Congress trying to use the District of Columbia as their playground and plaything?
