It is September. It is Recovery Month. I have a son who is more than 11 years in recovery, and yet, I have friends who have lost sons and daughters to fentanyl poisoning, to overdose.
Sheila was a fierce, fierce advocate for her constituents and an ardent defender of American civil rights, particularly voting rights.
The Chair of this Committee just said that he believes one of the biggest reasons for vaccine hesitancy is politics.
As the Chair acknowledged, we didn't start at 10. We started nearly an hour late or just over an hour late because he and his Republican colleagues had prioritized a meeting with Donald Trump over a Committee hearing and presumably they received their latest marching orders to weaponize congressional power against our criminal justice system because that's what we're seeing here today. It's outrageous.
Mr. Trump's behaviors are the reasons they are wailing, and they are upset. He has been convicted of--he has been found guilty of fraud. He has been convicted on 34 felony counts.
This isn't legitimate oversight. It is a political theater, and it is pretty bad theater at that.
