I consider myself to be the type of member that’s representing the state of Alabama, that’s representing District 2.

The opponent doesn’t change the focus. The focus has always been and will always be the people of this district.

My opponent would be just another rubber stamp on the same policies that are making life more expensive for the people right here in Alabama.

That’s in large part because I’ve had the privilege to represent over half of this new district already. We’ve shown up in the communities. We’ve shown them how we can deliver results.

There's been a lot of efforts by some to paint this district as a lost cause, saying that we lost a majority Black seat in the state of Alabama. But neither is true.

We represent everybody.

Well, neither is true. The seat was never majority Black. It's currently about 47% Black. The new district takes that down to about 40% Black. And so we represent everybody.

That’s led to the issue of straight-piping, which is essentially running a sewer line out into the woods, which creates a number of health and environmental concerns.

This bill came out of committee with unanimous support, with no one voting against it, and so we anticipate something like this being able to work its way through and get on the House floor soon, but we don’t know exactly when that will be.

It essentially removes that option away from the Corps to dispose of dredged material.

Republicans continued to tell us time and time again that no children would be cut off from SNAP. Now here we are, with over 80,000 Alabamians – including over 23,000 children – having access to food ripped away while billionaires got…

As I have said before, I do not believe that men should be allowed to participate in women’s sports.

I think it's purely racially motivated.

There's literal evidence in the record of state legislators referring to Montgomery during the redistricting process as 'monkey town.'

When you come from those communities, when your people come from a line of those communities, you care more about making sure that you leverage the position that you're in for the benefit of all communities.

There's not a country that I think TPS is designed at its core that's more deserving of that than the situations we currently see in Haiti.

The Supreme Court has now confirmed that there is no longer a Voting Rights Act in America, and states are essentially free to discriminate against minority voters with no consequences.

Too many people fought and sacrificed for me to have the opportunity to serve in Congress for me to just walk away. I will stay in this fight to build a better future for Alabama and a better country.

This is a significant step in the right direction, but there is still a long way to go before this fight is settled.

I am pleased with the Court’s decision, but this case is still not over.

After careful deliberation, we decided to run in the district that includes the majority of the counties I currently represent, and that provides the best opportunity to continue representing the people of Alabama.
