I want to begin by thanking everyone for attending the first hearing of the Research and Technology Subcommittee in the 114th Congress.

I look forward to hearing from our witnesses today as they provide an overview of the state of cybersecurity from the industry perspective and we learn how the federal government is playing a role in this important area.

The need to secure our information technology systems is a pervasive concern.

I look forward to what this committee, under the leadership of two Floridians, will be able to accomplish for our nation's veterans during the 114th Congress.

My bill will ensure that the steps taken to come up with this roadmap are transparent, and that all stakeholders are fully engaged in making sure that we provide the resources that our commitment to our veterans demands.

I look forward to working with my colleagues and stakeholders to move this bill as fast as we can this year.

No soldier should ever have to fight abroad and return home only to find that home is no longer there.

I am pleased that Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was able to pass a clean one-year extension at the end of 2014.

It is vitally important that we pass H.R. 189.

My bill would ensure that this one-year protection period that currently exists is extended through the end of 2016.

I think it is really unfortunate that this administration did not give, I believe, sufficient encouragement to the young people of Iran.

Additionally, the American people need to know as Iran is claiming or the regime, that this is for peaceful purposes, they are also, Mr. Einhorn, developing a ballistic missile capability.

I think that is what the average American thinks.

I think pressure is the only thing that has worked with the Iranian regime and I think pressure is our best means of getting a diplomatic settlement in this situation and actually avoiding war.

I just sincerely hope that with the good minds who are here that, indeed, positive programs can be developed.
