Texas is a law-and-order state, and we will use every tool that we can to ensure order across our state.

We call for secure borders.

Absolutely undermine the sovereignty of individual states.

Nothing we do precludes them from doing their job.

No one here wants to hear these horrific stories. But we have a job to do on limited resources.

FEMA fundamentally needs to go away as it exists.

We all know from the past that FEMA has failed thousand if not millions of people, and President Trump does not want to see that continue into the future.

So when I leave here I’ll have a conversation with him and visit and find out really what his concerns were.

He is not a monarch, he is not a king, and he should stop acting like one.

Trump and his loyalists, they thrive on division because it allows them to take more power and exert even more control. And by the way, Trump, he’s not opposed to lawlessness and violence, as long as it serves him.

If they can handcuff a U.S. Senator for asking a question, imagine what they will do to you.

The Founding Fathers did not live and die to see that happen in this country for no reason whatsoever other than vanity theater to instill fear, to incite a response.

The rule of law has increasingly been given way to the rule of Don.

This is about all of us. This is about you. California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived.
