I have never been in favor of new taxes on Alaska’s producers, and I still am not.

Given the robust discussion and work that has already gone into this bill, I am hopeful the legislature can swiftly pass a bill that will help the AK LNG project get the financing it needs to start construction as soon as possible.

The cost is going to go up.

We need to help with doing everything we can to keep people’s options open.

Before reintroducing the legislation, my administration is going to continue meeting with all parties to determine the best path forward to an agreement.

I hope it’s a bill that works and gets us a gasline and doesn’t stick it to other industry members.

It restricts ordinary political participation while leaving personal wealth as a preferred path to political influence.

Free speech and participation in elections should not depend on personal wealth. Alaska should not make it harder for citizens to support candidates while preserving a built-in advantage for those who can self-fund.

Under Gov. Mike Dunleavy, our state’s mismanagement of wildlife—particularly the state-run killing of bears and wolves—has been more egregious than any I’ve witnessed in the 40 or so years I’ve covered Alaska’s wildlife politics.

My hope is we can get the work done and a bill passed that works to help move this large gas line project forward before midnight Friday.

I will issue a call for a second special session to give them more time to quickly complete the work.

When you get all the geopolitical stuff that’s changed the world and then you get Trump 2.0 in here and data farms and cryptocurrency and electrification, it’s a different project.

For decades and decades and decades, this gasline project has been a dream of many Alaskans. And we’re closer today than we ever have been.

Alaska has a tremendous opportunity before us, and this bill is a critical step toward making the Alaska LNG Project a reality.

This project has the potential to transform Alaska’s economy for decades.

We’re doing exactly what we’re supposed to do.

Today, we are on the cusp of realizing a decades-old dream of delivering abundant, affordable energy that will benefit every Alaskan.

I really do see this as the beginning of a golden age for Alaska.

It’s gone from concept to discussion to, now, execution.
