The videos I've seen from Minneapolis yesterday are deeply disturbing

I'd like to see more, and I believe that if we don't stand up for our powers under the Constitution, nobody else will.

To accuse him and other lawmakers of treason and sedition for rightfully pointing out that servicemembers can refuse illegal orders is reckless and flat-out wrong.

People who feel very strongly about this will feel like they’ve been duped if the justice department claims we can’t release anything because of an active investigation.

It’s one thing if the federal government is going to continue its level of appeal through the courts to say, no, this can’t be done.

We're all afraid . . .

There is talking going on.

This is not good. This is not good from a governance perspective. This doesn’t reflect well on anybody and it is hurting real people [in] real time, so let’s figure out a way to end it.

I think it’s time for both Republicans and Democrats to be sitting down together to talk about, how do we end this impasse?

They’re seeing the impact of a government shutdown on them and their families that is personal and with potential for really harmful impacts.
