We are eager for the court to resolve this issue by directing the Trump Administration to comply with court orders and provide the certainty to the many Wisconsin families and businesses who rely on FoodShare.
Tony Evers
The Public Record
Tony Evers is an American educator and politician serving as the 46th governor of Wisconsin since January 7, 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Evers previously held the position of Wisconsin Superintendent of Public Instruction from 2009 to 2019, where he focused on educational reform and funding. His tenure as governor has been marked by efforts to expand healthcare access, improve education, and address issues related to food assistance programs in the state.
Our administration is actively in court fighting against the Trump Administration’s efforts to yank food assistance away from Wisconsin’s kids, families, and seniors, and we are eager for the court to resolve this issue.
But the truth is that the only thing I love more than being your governor is being a husband, a dad, and a grandpa—and it’s time for me to focus on the things I enjoy and love doing with my family.
I’ve spent 50 years in public service, and I’m damn proud I’ve devoted my career and most of my life to working for you, Wisconsin.
Of course, no question about that. But whether I'd win or not has never been part of my calculus about running again.
For five decades, my family has sacrificed to give me the gift of service. They’re my world, and I owe it to them to focus on doing all the things we enjoy and love doing together. It’s why, Wisconsin, I’m announcing that I will not be…
I promised you when I ran for this office that I'd always work to do the right thing, that I'd always give it to you straight, and that I'd always try to be a governor for all of Wisconsin.
by blocking the rule, the legislative committee is taking over powers that the state constitution assigns to the governor and exercising an unconstitutional 'legislative veto.'
It’s pretty simple—a handful of Republican lawmakers should not be able to single-handedly and indefinitely obstruct state agencies from doing the people’s work.
Wisconsinites want to protect our constitutional checks and balances. Today’s Wisconsin Supreme Court decision ensures that no small group of lawmakers has the sole power to stymie the work of state government and go unchecked.
