Wilson Landing represents exactly what we hoped to accomplish by creating new tools to expand attainable housing across Nevada.

With school districts facing budget pressures that threatened dedicated teachers, staff, and student learning, we needed to take immediate action.

“Earning Nevada’s first-ever ‘A’ grade is a significant achievement and reflects the hard work of our technology teams and state employees across the executive branch.

“Over the last several years, we’ve made it a priority to modernize state government, strengthen accountability, and ensure Nevada is keeping pace with the technology needs of our growing state,”

This is a more than $30 million state investment — and it came in under budget. When we spend taxpayer dollars, we have a responsibility to get results.

Today, we’re opening three new state buildings here at the Desert Regional Center, but more importantly, we’re opening the door to better care for Nevadans who depend on these services.

We’ve already shown that we’re willing to do our part, but the Colorado River is a shared resource, so the solution needs to involve everybody.

This historic conveyance will create thousands of new homes, generate billions of dollars in economic activity, support our military families, and build the infrastructure and communities Southern Nevadans need.

This is exactly the kind of bold action Nevada needs to increase our housing supply and make housing more attainable for hardworking Nevada families.

This emergency declaration gives Nevada the federal resources we need to move quickly and aggressively on Hawk Fire recovery.

I commend the Gaming Control Board for their diligent work to uphold Nevada’s longstanding regulatory standards.

I commend Mike Dreitzer and the GCB for their diligent work to uphold Nevada’s longstanding regulatory standards, safeguard the integrity of our gaming industry, and ensure the public can continue to have confidence in its oversight.

I have also directed the Housing Division to develop a long-term disaster recovery housing stability plan that provides additional opportunities for housing assistance.

Now, as we begin the road to recovery, Nevada is requesting the full support of our federal partners to protect our communities, restore critical infrastructure, and help those impacted by this devastating fire recover and rebuild.

The actions from our first responders, state agencies, and local and federal partners have been nothing short of heroic while battling the Hawk Fire.

The state is fully engaged, and we are working alongside local authorities and first responders to deploy every available resource to protect lives, safeguard communities, and keep Nevadans out of harm’s way.

Please heed all warnings from local officials, evacuate immediately if you are ordered to do so, and do not put yourself or first responders at risk.

I will continue to maintain your back throughout this whole process.

I have marshalled all my available resources to this vicinity in order to address our current situation.

We absolutely care. And we care so much to the detriment of other resources that we’re required to supply as state government.

This short-term relief will help families get through the immediate challenges, but we know some residents will need support for much longer as they work to return to stable housing.
