Brazen abuse of power

What we're witnessing is not law enforcement — it's authoritarianism.

The President, he did it on purpose. As the news spread throughout L.A., anxiety for family and friends ramped up and protests started again.

This brazen abuse of power by a sitting president enflamed a combustible situation, putting our people, our officers and even our National Guard at risk.

Trump, without consulting California leaders, commandeered 2,000 of our state's National Guard members to deploy on our streets illegally and for no reason.

$134 million should be going to LA’s fire recovery and is shameful.

ICE will continue to enforce the law.

If you work with this guy, if you acquiesce, if you give up on your values so you can somehow gain a little traction today, you’re going to find in the future that you’ve given up everything.

By the way, Trump, he’s not opposed to lawlessness and violence, as long as it serves him. What more evidence do we need than Jan. 6?

This is about all of us. This is about you. California may be first – but it clearly won’t end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next.

If some of us can be snatched off the streets without a warrant – based only on suspicion or skin color – then none of us are safe.

What Donald Trump wants most is your fealty. Your silence. To be complicit in this moment. Do not give into him.

FEMA fundamentally needs to go away as it exists.

Direction to DoD forces to either detain, just as they would at any federal facility guarded by military, lawbreakers under Title 18 until they can be arrested and processed by federal law enforcement, or arrest them.

I think the chaos that we’re seeing coming from Washington... is something that New Jerseyans are not gonna tolerate.

It’s up to all of us to make sure that we are there, mobilizing, bringing people together as he’s trying to divide us apart.

New Jersey will not be pushed around—not on my watch.

That’s not leadership, that’s not governing, that’s not standing up for the people you serve.

Is he going to invite the Marines into the streets of New Jersey? This is ridiculous.
