Today I am proposing legislation that will reduce the redtape and the excess regulations that have strangled and straitjacketed the trucking industry of America for the last 40 years.

I'm determined to bring common sense, equity, and efficiency to the entire regulatory process, so that the strength of our economy can be realized and the public good can be served and protected.

I want to stress in the strongest possible terms that violence and lawlessness will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

The truth of the nuclear age is that the United States and the Soviet Union must live in peace, or we may not live at all.
