It is time, at long last, for us to also prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

Transgender Americans deserve to be ourselves in a workplace where we are judged exclusively on our ability to do our jobs.

No American should be denied a job just because of their gender.

We support the ENDA legislation because we believe it is a fundamental right of all American citizens to be treated fairly, with respect and dignity in the workplace regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

What we need is a clear Federal prohibition of discrimination against LGBT individuals, and that is what the Employment Non-Discrimination Act would accomplish.

I want to thank you, Chairman Harkin, and the committee, again, for the opportunity to testify in support of this very important bill.

the cost is not just LGBT individuals, it is to our economy. It is to our society as a whole.

This bill would outlaw discrimination in hiring and other employment decisions based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
