We will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the displaced and vulnerable in Iraq and Syria.

It will be the responsibility of Iraqis to secure their own country and take the fight to ISIL on the ground in their own country.

It is America that has the capacity and the will to mobilize the world against terrorists.

We will take action on the Syrian side of the border to degrade ISIL.

We believe that this will have to be a sustained effort.

But in one of our darkest moments, we summoned strength and courage, and out of horrible devastation emerged the best of our humanity.

Simply put, ISIL will find no safe-haven.

America will never forget the September tragedy that shook our Nation's core 13 years ago.

This is a sustained and systematic effort, and we're going to continue to take the time to get this right.

Both leaders agreed that a stronger Syrian opposition is essential to confronting extremists like ISIL as well as the Assad regime, which has lost all legitimacy.
