Donald Trump has the power to make sure the federal government can continue producing and releasing this critical information on Friday and beyond during his shutdown.

While the data has been processed and there was time to prepare for the data’s release in the event of a government shutdown, the Administration is choosing not to release Friday’s jobs report.

They’ll have a fourth chance tomorrow to open up the government. If that fails, we’ll give them the weekend to think about it. We’ll come back, vote again Monday.

On the Democratic side, we think this is a battle worth fighting.

Democrats are well aware of the damage of a government shutdown.

They aren't political trophies — they are lifelines. They mean tens of thousands of good-paying union jobs. They mean shorter commutes, safer travel and a stronger economy not just for New York, but for the entire nation.

Standing up to (Trump) on this is sending a message to him on those other issues as well.

As of this morning, critical federal employees including members of the military, Border Patrol agents and air traffic controllers are working without pay.

I don’t think shutdowns benefit anybody, least of all the American people.

This Democrat shutdown is actually delaying progress on the issues that Democrats claim to be interested in.

We should be working on bipartisan solutions to address a living health care crisis.

Do I hope, eventually, that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved by in church? Yeah, honestly, I do wish that, because I believe in the Christian gospel and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way.
