So, our President loves to refer to himself as a great negotiator and a great deal maker. But we have not seen any successful deals on behalf of the American people yet.

But I hope we do not negate the progress that we have helped build in that country and the sacrifices, particularly that our troops have made by pulling out with a plan in place to create and sustain lasting peace.

In the early days of our roles, we toured our districts. We spoke with health departments, hospitals, first responders.

This legislation does just that. It gives certainty--the certainty that states need that will provide them the funding.

I urge you to use the power of that to take further meaningful steps to combat the addiction crisis.

Federal agencies must have explicit rules in place to affirm that scientific research will be free of political interference.

Federal agencies need to listen to scientists and allow them to do their work free of political considerations.

You may disagree with the politics of the current Administration, but let's stick to the facts of what is happening with science in our Federal agencies, not rumor, not exaggeration.

I believe this Committee needs to carefully examine the facts around these misleading assumptions.

The rushed nature of this hearing is disappointing, yet not surprising to me.

We're here today to discuss the vital role that advisory committees play in ensuring EPA's actions are informed and supported by the best available science.

It appears that this order is an attempt to hinder agencies' ability to solicit objective, transparent, expert advice.

This undermines the transparency and integrity we expect from these important expert panels.

It's concerning that EPA intends to develop health standards based on the advice of a committee that itself admits it's underqualified to review the relevant science.

The Gateway Tunnel Project is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the Nation.

But I remain worried about the enormous risks our election systems still face heading into 2020.

I applaud the Secretaries of State, the election officials, the poll workers and the systems administrators across this nation who have already been working hard to defy election interference.

Gateway is vital to the region's future. We must ensure that the Gateway Tunnel gets built as soon as possible.

We need to understand that climate change makes storms like Hurricane Sandy more likely, and that our transportation infrastructure is exposed.

I think we're a little concerned about more regulation because we've seen how some outdated or poorly functioning regulation is really harming.

The cost of doing nothing to address the poor condition of the current tunnel is staggering.

I'm glad to see yesterday the President and Speaker Pelosi met to talk about infrastructure, and agreed on moving forward on a $2 trillion infrastructure package.
