I take great pleasure in extending to you a most cordial welcome in my own name and in that of my fellow country men.

This demonstration of the dependence of the country upon electrical current for its life and health is in itself a monument to Mr. Edison's genius.

It is hereby ordered that Executive Order No. 4942, dated July 30, 1928, which withdrew the public lands in T. 6 S., R. 8 W., New Mexico principal meridian, New Mexico, pending a resurvey, be, and the same is hereby, revoked.

The grief of every American in the passing of one of the great benefactors of humanity has manifested itself in the suggestion from hundreds of citizens that the Nation should join in a solemn tribute to the memory of Thomas Alva Edison.

For that cooperation we have held during these 150 years a grateful remembrance.

This national shrine stands for more than a glorious battle.

It is not too much to say that without Washington the war for independence would not have been won.

No one steps upon the soil of Virginia without inspiration from the part she has played in the winning of our liberties and the building of our institutions.

Certainly with the victory at Yorktown, our independence was won.
