We know that, you know, space is important to our economy, our economic well-being.

It is fitting that we hold this hearing. Our Committee was established in direct response to the challenge of Sputnik.

Transparency and the application of credible science is a cornerstone of environmental and public health protections.

Science advisory committees are crucial to ensuring the best science informs all aspects of decisionmaking at the Environmental Protection Agency.

That assertion does not seem to be accurate.

Only two CIG Funding Agreements were executed and not withdrawn in 2017 and 2019.

Thus, FTA causes project sponsors to raise additional funds that are not required by statute.

Today, I am eager to hear from the Acting FTA Administrator on the progress of publishing its revised policy guidance.

It has been troubling to observe these important committees being dismantled and manipulated over the past 2-1/2 years.

The most recent blow to advisory committees was an executive order issued by the President in June.

This Committee plays an important role in authorizing both climate science and the research needed to better understand glaciers and ice sheets.

We need to be listening to Earth's glaciers and ice sheets and what they're telling us about the changing climate.

Good morning. I would like to welcome our witnesses to the Science, Space, and Technology Committee's hearing entitled 'Earth's Thermometers: Glacial and Ice Sheet Melt in a Changing Climate.'

This hearing will come to order.

It seems as though we're bombarded on an almost daily basis with news articles and reports saying that the world's ice is melting faster than ever.

I support an extension of space station operations beyond 2024.

We need to ensure that those resources are focused on those tasks that can only be done by ISS and that are a high priority.

I am skeptical that sending wealthy space tourists to ISS is the best or even a good use of taxpayers-funded facility.
