Is it fair to say that Iran's influence, at least up to this date, has been to destabilize state actors in the Middle East?

What is verification? What is snap-back? What is possible military dimensions? How far can research and development go?

If the Iranians do not agree to a regime that provides verification, inspection, monitoring, and snap-back sanctions, then we should walk away, in my opinion.

I think there is a third way.

The strategy that should exist, under the hope that we will get an agreement that actually could be supported and embraced as a good agreement, is a strategy that is all on the come, when it should be upfront

If we are successful in reaching a diplomatic agreement, we have removed one threat. That is a nuclear Iran.

It showed unity, unity here in our government, that we are focused on Iran, not on the fights in Congress.

They continue their missile activities.

They continue to support terrorism.

That is pretty amazing.

If you want a deterrent, Iran has to know consequences.

Iran is not prohibited from carrying out ballistic missile work.

I hope he makes that clear and unequivocal statement.

What we must also keep in mind is the enormous toll this is taking on survivors and those in the broader community.

The United States Government has led the way among donors, working with the Government of Liberia to halt the spread of Ebola.

Thank you for the support that you continue to give to Liberia, not only in this fight but in our overall development effort.

I applaud all of their efforts.

I do not think it is fair to ask people, like these three, to risk their lives, to give their lives in a mission if Congress has not had a debate and put their thumbprint on it and said this is in the national interest.

This is not about a quest to just seem relevant.

In my view, deployment of ground troops at this time would be Groundhog Day in Iraq all over again.

The absence of getting an AUMF from the executive branch and Congress not acting... would, in essence, create a de facto veto of the constitutional prerogative and responsibilities that the Congress has.

They do not want us to occupy Iraq for decades.

I believe that the risk of ISIL acquiring a safe haven in Iraq or Syria or beyond... demands action.
