I am humbled by that.

I appreciate the heartfelt nature of those. It was a shocking occurrence in our state and something that we highly, highly deplore.

As we work on affordable healthcare issues we ought to be very cognizant of how important this aspect and the appropriations for NIH is.

A long time before the Affordable Care Act was ever in place there was a Moran 10 Point Plan on trying to improve the access to affordable healthcare.

May I summarize that by saying that Kansans will have better opportunity for better treatment and a greater opportunity for cures in treatment of diseases?

I would encourage Mr. Chairman--Chairman Cochran, I would work with you and Chairman Blunt as well as our Democratic colleagues.

That is a pyrrhic victory if we don't do the appropriation bill.

It's been successful. It makes a difference, but we do that because it is the exception.

We all want it to work very quickly for the benefit of all.

We've paid a lot of attention to spectrum issues and want to make sure that good things are happening.

Making sure that we get that to market quickly, that we have large contiguous channels... is really critical.

Keep looking is your answer, and look everywhere.

Senator Schatz and I have worked on trying to encourage a balanced approach to licensed and unlicensed spectrum.

I come from a place in which getting broadband opportunities to rural America is significantly important.

I really commend this committee for your focus on additional bands.

I want to thank the Committee leadership, Senators Moran and Schatz, as well as their co-sponsors...

The fact that that and the rural health care program are the two that are capped

And it's not a congressional appropriation that we're missing.

Way too many veterans who have mental health conditions are slipping through the cracks.

The promise was made as we moved more toward community-based services that the money would flow from the hospitals to the community-based services.

In my view, it takes both.

The tremendous financial burden that now accrues for, in a sense, housing those who really need to be cared for in a mental health setting end up in our county jails and our city jails.

If we can overcome our differences, maybe Republicans and Democrats can do the same.

I don't expect to win every battle, and I recognize that often my points of view, coming from where I come and the philosophy that I hold, is a minority point of view.
