Importantly, the extension is temporary and fully paid for, so it can’t increase the deficit.
Just because a party thinks that they can gain an advantage by redrawing lines all of a sudden doesn’t mean they should do it.
There is going to need to be a deal on that issue — I don’t think that there’s any doubt about that.
It’s extremely disappointing to me that he did not do the right thing in advocating for our members and protecting the House as an institution.
The decision to fund or reduce funding for projects should be based on neutral criteria as to whether those projects advance the public interest and are a prudent use of taxpayer dollars.
Unfortunately, we are in Day 6 of a government shutdown — one that I voted to avoid, just as I voted against government shutdowns during the Biden Administration.
It makes no sense to say that if some other state is doing something that we don’t like, we should then respond by doing too.
