Mark Edward Kelly is an American politician, engineer, and former astronaut currently serving as the junior United States senator from Arizona. A member of the Democratic Party, he was elected to the Senate in a special election held in November 2020 and officially took office on December 2, 2020. Kelly has focused on various issues during his tenure, including veterans' affairs, healthcare, and gun control, reflecting his commitment to public service and safety.
Ultimately, the importance of our water rights settlement and the WMAT Rural Water System to the health and welfare of our people cannot be overstated.

Is there anything you could share about the timing for the MEGA Projects Program?
I was really proud to have had the opportunity to work to craft the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, both as a member of this Committee but also in the group of members that negotiated the final deal.
I have spent 6 and a half hours on that highway, stuck in a traffic jam when the normal drive is about 90 minutes.
What do you think applicants might need to do to be successful in applying for these funds?
I fought to secure $5 billion for investments for superfund sites and brownfield cleanups, including for more than 500 abandoned uranium mines on the Navajo Nation.
