I tend to favor the council. The idea of the Federal Reserve I think is just fraught with a lot of problems.

With many years of experience in dealing with them, they are not positioning. Ask our pork producers. Ask them about poultry. They are not positioning. On the last day, China will look out for China.

I find that shocking. I just find that amazingly shocking that that would have happened without that information being out there.

Poor Tom Vilsack has to go out there with that testimony and try to convince farmers on a hope and a prayer.

If the United States passes this bill, we are not going to impact temperature in any significant degree.

I said yesterday on the Senate floor it is no consolation to stand with one foot in the campfire, one foot in the ice bucket and say, on average, I am in good shape.

Vote no on cap and trade.

We work on issues to try to help the lives of veterans who have given so much to our country.

I want to say thank you. Thank you for your many, many years of service.

You always inherit something, and you know what? You are going to leave something behind for the next people.

I see these extravagant promises in just about everything that happens here--and I am new to this, too, myself--and then I see this terrible execution.

I didn't vote for that because as a former mayor and a Governor, I couldn't figure out how there was any possibility that that would be a job creator.

Those weren't the promises made. You know, the promises made were very vastly different on the economic stimulus package than what you are trying to sell me on today.

You've got 50 states that regulate in this area. You've got a Federal Government that regulates in this area.

Every thoughtful analysis of Medicare tells us that pretty quickly here, 7, 8 years out, it's insolvent.

My understanding is that about 10 million aren't here as American citizens. Is that something we should do in health care reform?

The label doesn't really matter to me; it's something else.

We also have, I think, a healthy suspicion about those who claim that government will solve all problems.

I think we've made it hopelessly complicated.

People have to know what they're buying. And what they're going to get. And what they're not going to get.

I would hate to get at the end of this and find out that we've only made it more complicated, not less complicated.
