Let me congratulate you and the administration for the work you've done, the successes you've had.

Why are you now choosing to end a program that is over 98% complete with development activities and with very little risk going forward?

Because whether they are Democrats or Republicans, they don't exist yet. They are the children of tomorrow.

It is demeaning to the process, it is demeaning to the Constitution, it is demeaning to the oath that we took.

This is the most important thing we could be doing.

Whatever happened to debarment? I mean, don't we have any kind of teeth with that? I mean, what happened to the good old days----

I think that we can do it, because I have talked to a lot of Members, both Houses, both parties.

Americans are demanding bold and real change from Washington, and I believe my proposal meets that test.

My top priority in Congress is to encourage private sector job creation, especially through finding ways that the government can live within its means.

I hope we don't leave the impression that we don't think you are working hard.

But Mr. Chairman, we always are looking for ways to collect any overpayments.

It means getting back every penny in Social Security overpayments.

It sure would be nice, though, to see more consistency in Congress's commitment to payment accuracy.

The increased funding for program integrity within the SSA... is a very good step in that direction.

We owe it to American workers to safeguard their contributions to the Social Security trust fund.
