The city has a non-negotiable, non-discretionary requirement.

I will never vote for Republican Mike Rogers, though Jewish Michigan Democrats are now backing him.

And that’s the kind of mentality that bothers me a lot.

It would risk losing another generation, and that’s a risk we cannot take.

I see this as an industry sweep, but we’re at the front end of it.

Meta knew its platforms were harming kids.

They are designed to reduce compulsive use, mitigate risks of anxiety, depression, disordered eating, sleep disruption, and other documented harms, and give parents greater ability to supervise their children’s online activity.

This settlement is a milestone victory for Hoosier families.

A significant percentage of young people are using social media after midnight. The new default will be that those feeds will be disabled between midnight and 6 a.m.

The data shows that nearly 80% of teens use social media for over two hours a day and nearly 40% of them use social media for over five hours a day.

My wife and I have three kids. We know how hard it is to argue with them about screen time.

Not only is this last-minute rule change against the law, but it threatens North Carolinians’ voting rights and imposes a whole new process right before an election.

The Constitution is clear on this: The states have the authority over elections, not the Postal Service.

Cheating doesn’t win.

I think it justifies building up the team.

The money from the settlement will act as a down payment toward an industry-wide social media experience that allows kids to connect in a healthy way.

It is my hope that this is a turning point for the entire social media industry to prioritize the safety and well-being of children over their bottom line.

Now, the responsibility to protect our youth cannot end here.

For too many years, social media platforms have traded our children’s mental health for engagement on their apps.

We will apply the same standard and the same rules, and we’ll have the same energy and the same fervor to enforce the laws in the State of Nebraska, no matter who.

I appreciate Meta’s recognition of the harms caused by their platform design and working with attorneys general across the country to reach this historic settlement.

I strongly encouraged them to direct much of this money to go to mental health. That’s really the priority for me.
