I hope that the committee will use this opportunity to address the need to update the funding split.

I am hoping that the people and workers and construction of these projects--that you hold equity and environmental justice as guiding principles.

I want to outline some priorities that should guide this work.

I really appreciate the opportunity to testify today about our Nation's infrastructure priorities and the upcoming reauthorization of our highway and transit programs.

We need a minimum wage increase. We have got to stop pretending that we can just live off of nothing.

I think it is time that we begin to discuss a new deal between the federal government and its people as distinct from a contract on America that exacerbates inequities.

In 2018 the CTC pulled 4.3 million Americans, including 2.3 million children, out of poverty.

The earned income tax credit and the child tax credit provisions, among others in the Rescue Plan, will do more to reduce child poverty in our country than all the empty rhetoric for the last 25 years about personal responsibility.

We cannot only end welfare as we know it, but we can end the misery inflicted by poverty on our communities going forward.

We need resources so that we can keep polls open, give people same-day voting options, as well as to equip our local county boards with the opportunities to provide ballot mail-in ballots.

Wisconsin's primary election is a chief tenet of true democracy, and maximizing participation without discrimination is important to us.

No family should suffer the death of a child without knowing why, yet over 400 children and 3,600 infants die each year from unexplained causes.

I would ask if you would prioritize that those funds continue because they prioritize communities that have had high rates of gun violence as well as trauma.
