This report highlights a trend of child welfare systems failing to find permanent families, forever families for young people.

What message does it send for us to expend government resources running after, you know, Joanne Smith, who got $1,500 she didn't deserve and may not have even known that she didn't deserve it?

We are against fraud and abuse. We are against taxpayers footing the bill.

The request for $80 million to add to the IRS, this is a perfect reason why we ought to do it.

When you spend this much money in the middle of a pandemic and you must push the money out very fast, the fraudsters just show up.

I do want to make sure that this committee revisits the Earned Income Tax Credit because it is a great program for helping people get out of poverty if it would actually do that.

Low-wage workers are taxed into poverty because of the way the Earned Income Tax Credit is structured.

Also, you did these 30 reports, and you said--you reported that 8 of the 12 studies reviewed discussed whether the benefits discouraged folk from returning to work, and they said no.
