It was stagecraft. And his whole purpose for coming to Wisconsin was to set the stage, and he hoped to set the stage for the second civil war, so that he could rationalize his law and order agenda.

And this strategy of embracing violence and chaos will backfire on him.

I just learned just now that the president defended this 17-year-old and called it self-defense. I mean, I thought I couldn't be shocked anymore. But I am.

The president already starting his campaign against her bringing up birtherism. So I think that his raw racism right out in public is really going to be the thing to galvanize our entire coalition.

We need resources so that we can keep polls open, give people same-day voting options, as well as to equip our local county boards with the opportunities to provide ballot mail-in ballots.

We hired young people during the summer. And so when we think of cutting funding to programs like Summer Jobs, we don't connect it to violence prevention.

Having lived and worked in these communities most of my life, I know that this is not true.

If you don't allow people to work because they are formerly incarcerated, our communities do not have job opportunities.

I am proud that my state of Wisconsin was the first in the nation to create a 'green alert' system to help locate missing veterans.

I urge the Committee to take up and pass legislation such as H.R. 3495, the Improve Well-Being for Veterans Act.

Each suicide is a tragedy for the individual, their families, and the larger community.

When our troops serve, they give up something in pursuit of a purpose greater than themselves.

I respectfully request that the Virgin Islands have the ability to carry over any unspent funds provided in any given fiscal year.

The islands cannot suffer cuts like that and continue to deliver services.

Without this additional funding stream, and at least another year of a waiver for any local match required under Medicaid, the resulting Medicaid cuts would put healthcare delivery at risk.

Under this bill, for my district, the Virgin Islands, the Medicaid cap would be increased by an overall $756 million over six years.

The exclusion of all of the territories from Medicaid DSH... has been a major health issue in the territories for many years.
