I just want to be grateful. To live in the United States of America is really a blessing

Don Payne was more than a politician, he was a statesman.

He made the occasion in Darfur, where he went to make sure those who were suffering would have an opportunity to have a better quality of life.

He helped raise $50 million to help those who are beset with this disease.

The debate today and for some time now has really been about how independent the CFPB will be.

This agency, in my opinion, merits a great deal of independence given what we went through with the debacle as it relates to financial institutions.

I believe the President did the right thing.

I believe in oversight. I think oversight is of paramount importance.

I am concerned about persons who were left behind.

I would like to be able to prevent this from happening to other people.

There is concern. There is concern. And the Vietnamese people have raised these concerns.

I'm grateful to each of these men for giving me this opportunity to be a part of this committee, temporarily.
