the point the Senator from Massachusetts is making with regard to cutting the resources we have available for education and then not funding the mandates really bites in the State of New Jersey. We have a $6 billion budget deficit in the upcoming year. Educational funding is going to have to be cut just to balance the budget. We have serious conflicts going on between teachers and administrations across the State. If I have heard the Senator correctly, we are going to have virtually no increase in education spending at the Federal level this year at a time when we have decided we want to make permanent these tax cuts which really are going to people who are doing extraordinarily well in society.
