I think we should be paying the people at the elementary level what we pay college professors to begin with.

The Older Americans Act plays a vital role in helping seniors access services that promote health, independence, and longevity.

I look forward to working with my colleagues in a bipartisan effort to reauthorize the Older Americans Act and help seniors age with dignity and comfort.

I think that is a real tragedy. I think the tragedy is going to be worse and worse in the future as funds become more and more scarce.

You have to have the commitment from the people running these programs to see that there is some success, and you have to believe in the students and make sure that they can see a vision for where they can go.

One of this committee's top priorities for the upcoming reauthorization of the Higher Education Act is improving postsecondary access and affordability.

I think again that there have been lots of good intentions with TRIO programs, and a lot of other government programs that are out there that simply don't meet the good intentions that are set out for them because we don't do a sufficient…

We must also be honest about the challenges facing the program and work together in good faith to enact smart policy changes that will help get the program back on stable ground.

When hard-working taxpayer money is being spent, taxpayers deserve accountability, which means that it is critical that we have the information necessary to know what is and is not working in the Pell program.
