Now, John Shimkus and I, Mr. Chairman Shimkus and I, and others have really been upset about the Equal Access to Justice Act because it lacks transparency.
You are saying legally enforceable rights that parents could take the companies to court.
When it takes the Texas Railroad Commission days to issue a permit and it takes the various Federal agencies years, that is a problem, and it is not that Texas is too fast. It is that the Federal Government drags its feet.
I worry about folks on fixed incomes in my district having to heat to a minimal level, one room in their house during the wintertime.
It is past time for this committee to examine these issues with the seriousness they deserve.
I just have a philosophical difference, I guess, with you also because we have this $16 trillion debt.
I urge you to call a time-out, Mr. Secretary, to make sure that we get this right.
