I have members, I have constituents that are afraid to tell me and let me make public about outrageous actions by agencies because they fear the harassment and regulatory retaliation.

I totally disagree with that position.

I would take an exception with Mr. Goodwin's comment that nobody likes regulatory compliance.

I am opposed to 'dumb' regulations as well.

The end result is we worry about global pollution supposedly, but the end result is we make that happen.

I think Mr. Goodwin even agreed with that--they hit harder on small businesses than the big guys.

this is the most misleading statement I have heard made, probably, in my 4 years on this committee.

I believe they lied to the committee.

The answer always should be, Yes, we can, we are going to look at a way.

What I hope in the long term is, instead of worrying about necessarily what the studies say and what experts in Washington, D.C., say or some big university, some big hospital, what I am worried about is what my constituents say.

They are tired of driving 200, 300 miles for care that they could get right down the road at their local hospital.
