Pat Roberts is a former United States Senator from Kansas, serving from 1997 to 2021. A member of the Republican Party, he was known for his work on agricultural policy and national security issues during his tenure. Before his time in the Senate, Roberts served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1981 to 1997. Throughout his political career, he focused on issues important to Kansas, including farming and rural development. Roberts was also involved in various committees, including the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, where he played a significant role in shaping agricultural legislation.

I'm really pleased to see the hard work your office has done to advance the interoperability of health IT.
We need to really focus on that, what patients want, rather than how we are just putting information into a system.
It is very clear, as has been said by Senator Wyden, from the report that there was gross mismanagement of the exemption application process for these targeted groups.
It is clear this was a massive effort. And I remain deeply concerned and, worse, have no confidence that we will have all of the information we need to make a final determination on the IRS activities.
I'm certainly interested in innovative ways that would help us solve those challenges.
I hope that we can continue that bipartisan spirit as we now work on higher education as well.
This is an important piece of work that we're talking about today to help us grow our economy from the middle out.
I think there is going to be a lot of meaningful dialogue that can come of this.
