Ultimately, these reforms would set kids up for long-term success, helping them gain the skills they need to become productive adults.
I look forward to working together in the weeks and months ahead. I suspect we will continue to have our differences, but there is no doubt we share the same goal of helping to ensure every child is prepared to succeed in life.
When parents have a choice, I truly believe every kid has a chance, and that's what this hearing is about.
I'm a strong supporter of school choice, but not the school privatization proposed by my Republican colleagues.
We will never turn our backs on the millions of students who attend our nation's public schools, but we also want to ensure parents have the opportunity to choose the best school for their children.
