Our transportation system is at its limit. Our highways are jammed.

It is just really amazing to me that our California delegation is not united together in trying to bring Federal resources to the beautiful State of California, instead of trying to fight it.

I think we ought to be fighting together to bring Federal resources to California, not trying to oppose Federal resources.

We are more than willing to work with our friends on the other side to fix things that maybe nobody thought about or that do have unintended consequences.

I get frustrated in these hearings because I know the main purposes is just to have more bad stuff to talk about and to attack the Affordable Care Act.

California knows how to do things right. We have already had 59,000 enrollees in Covered California.

The Affordable Care Act introduced many substantial changes to health care, and these reforms will improve access to and adequacy of coverage.

Sequestration certainly has had a drastic impact on all of our Government agencies, and smaller agencies are much more sensitive to any funding reductions since, really, every dollar counts.

According to a recent report, nearly 64 percent of our roads in Los Angeles County are listed in poor condition and costing our drivers $832 a year, well over the national average of $377.

Chairman Shuster and Ranking Member Rahall both said that when it comes down to finding ways to finance our Nation's transportation system, all options need to be considered.

In fact, it is questionable how effective any other recommendation will be without addressing this issue.
