The DOJ opinion strikes at the very heart of State powers.

If we have trouble protecting our children from cyberbullying and other Internet crimes-against-children cases, then how can we expect a State to protect our youth from the potential harm of putting an online casino in their pocket.

The Federal Government should respect the rights of States, not destroy those rights.

I'm not up here to say that gambling should be made illegal. I think if New Jersey...want to have a robust gambling industry, they should be free to pursue that.

Each State is entitled to decide for itself how or whether to regulate gambling or ban it all together.

The members of this committee should recognize that under our Constitution, particularly the 10th Amendment, the States have virtually exclusive authority over gambling.

There is no violation of State sovereignty or 10th Amendment because Congress has the authority under Article I, Section 8 to regulate interstate commerce.

I believe under the 10th Amendment States should be able to outlaw Internet gambling, but those States that want gambling in there can certainly pass those laws that allow it to occur.

If you make online gambling legal at the Federal level, then you have basically legalized it in States where they don't want gambling at all.

I believe that if online gambling, if it is allowed by the Federal Government, you're basically putting a virtually floating casino over every State or in every pocket of every teenager or young person who wants to be able to access it.

We have all learned the painful reality that markets do not regulate themselves, and a nation as powerful as ours must invest in regulation

I think this panel has made a really strong case for looking at DOPMA and the fact that it really doesn't make sense to use a one-size-fits-all

So, the changes to DOPMA should be made at the congressional level?

I think it's time to take a look at that.

I certainly hope that this committee will follow through.

I think that the example that you cited, women serving in the military, will transform the military.

For the individual veteran to navigate his or her way through the system is really a challenge.

I would hate for us to appropriate $421 million for you to develop a system and then it cannot ever be implemented.

I thought I was hearing wrong when the Senator talked about Liberal.

I think we just want all of this to actually happen.
