I am looking for someone who is going to be a real advocate for our compact friends to whom we have an obligation.

I was shocked to see the President drastically slashing funds for the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy program.

There should be a definition that you have for what constitutes permanent disability that is showing that someone has to provide in order to get a free pass.

Many of the bills we are considering today represent worthy ideas to improve and expand access to our public lands and national parks.

I hope that since this program has proven itself that the deference of support for this program, I hope, is something that is going to be resolved.

I think it is really critical that the young people in our country have the experience of being in our national parks.

I hope you will undergo that because I think that these programs have proven themselves to be worthy of support

Providing service-disabled veterans with lifetime passes to our national parks and public lands would convey our gratitude for their service.

The Congress passed a benefits package for the Filipino World War II veterans and we are losing them by the day.

I think it makes a lot of sense, with a 150,000-case backlog, to basically triage the kind of cases that you have and move things along.

If my math is correct you have 700 lawyers. That gets you to 118,000 cases that would be completed once this new standard is implemented.

That kind of approach has to become institutionalized within the VA, so it is not catch as catch can.

I think it is important because I certainly--I visit our VA facilities all across our State, and retention--the need for more hospital personnel, et cetera, is really critical, and to keep them.

So, now that you are aware, it is going to rise to the top of your list of priorities----

The VA's Office of General Counsel provides conclusive interpretations of legal matters for the Department and assists in the drafting and implementation of relevant legislation.

If you wanted to move faster toward that kind of reliance on alternatives and renewables because we care about things like climate change.

The number one consumer of fossil fuels in the country and maybe the world is the Department of Defense.

Why did we allow this to happen?

Long-term, I think we need to recognize we can't continue to rely entirely on fossil fuels.

I have to say that I am astounded that the Navy, upon whose assessments we rely in making decisions...

If we do not deal with the Budget Control Act, we will end up cutting, not increasing, the size of the Navy.

The mindless cuts to defense and non-defense programs were meant to be so bad that Congress would be forced to find an alternative way forward.

We have to recognize that the Budget Control Act is looming in the background and will have to be dealt with.

The investigation into this tragedy should guide our decisions going forward to prevent these kinds of tragedies and to provide support for our sailors and Marines.
