My final question is with regard to FIFRA. For years, members of the public have expressed concerns that EPA is not doing a better job addressing the hazards associated with pesticides.

I want to now discuss methylene chloride. I understand this chemical has been blamed in dozens of accidental deaths across the country.

At a minimum, I think the EPA must speak clearly about the level of risk associated with these chemicals and not just talk about it but take decisive action where it is warranted.

I am going to reserve the balance of my time for use during the hearing.

This is for you, Mr. Lanham. We had a hearing earlier about ocean plastic and the oceans that are affecting plastics and what could be used, how plastics could better be used.

I think Senator Carper has been delayed in another hearing, which is critical for his attendance.

The Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program allows U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services to provide direct technical and financial assistance to private landowners to improve fish and wildlife habitat.

The Endangered Species Act amendments that I have been working on, our discussion draft, reauthorizes appropriations for the Endangered Species Act for the first time since Fiscal Year 1992.

The Federal Government is supposed to work in partnership with States.

Well, thank you very much, and thank you for the wonderful work that Ducks Unlimited continues to do on behalf of all of us.

Coal is a critical component of the electric grid reliability.

Coal mining supports thousands of excellent jobs throughout the state and provides a major source of revenue at the local and state level.

States--not Federal agencies--have primacy over wildlife management.

States contribute and carry out more than $5.6 billion in conservation efforts.

It was a magnificent bipartisan effort, really, that came out of this Committee, 21 to nothing.

Today the Committee is going to examine several of the important roles that States play in successful conservation, recovery, and management of wildlife.

He cared deeply about the issue we will be discussing today.

You can see the love and the look in Senator McCain's eyes and the deep feelings he had to making sure the children... had the opportunities so necessary.

This was clearly an issue that was incredibly important not just to us, but to Senator McCain.

No issue is more important across tribal communities than those affecting children.

We must continue to make positive reforms to help these young people chart a different course.
