So when the EPA goes after the coal industry, you are attacking the very fabric--much like your Navajo Nation.

Please understand, where I am coming from is a coal-fired State. We create coal, we mine coal in West Virginia.

Your number is down here, while all the others are up in a much higher level.

Powerhouses all across America are shutting down because of the onslaught of EPA rules.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Technology has really moved, so if it worked back 30, 40 years ago, I don't understand, unless there is another agenda here--and that is a little bit more sinister--about why we are not allowing this to progress and putting our people back…

I have heard all the scare tactics from the friends on the other side that this is a very corrosive, difficult product to handle, but I think engineers over the years have developed ways of handling that.

Then they went ahead and they built it--800 miles long, 48 inches in diameter, across 3 mountain chains, 30 rivers. It seemed to have worked.

Senator Manchin mentioned us as being the Saudi Arabia of natural gas in West Virginia.

I think we all have a responsibility to create jobs here in the private sector, not in the government jobs, in the private sector.

I just hope there's somehow that you all in West--in the legislature can come up with something to attract that back because there are so many secondary jobs can come from that if you will provide them the incentives to do it.

Let's get that trained work force. We have the resources if we can get that bill out of the House.

I am just trying to understand the effect, what the likelihood of increased cost is going to be under Order 1000 to the residents of West Virginia.

If their cost goes up by having renewables because we are putting a line in for a wind farm and now I have to pay more, why is that not a subsidy?

But you said they killed people.

If it comes down to health issues, saving a person's health of saving a person's job, what would you recommend specifically?

There have been announcements of three to five plants in West Virginia that are going to shut down because of these regulations.

Coal is the backbone of West Virginia, and it is crucial, but it wasn't until I came to Congress... that I realized how much there was this attack on coal.

What are we talking about? Construction jobs that last for 6 months but then put the 600 people out of work in my district? That doesn't work.

They have gone to--they are talking to the banks. First they are saying we meet some standards now, we are not polluting under the old standard, we are meeting some standards, we are meeting Clean Air Act, we are meeting the EPA standards…

But right now we have 9.1 percent unemployment. We just got announced last month that there were no job increases whatsoever across America.

You said you are expecting job growth if the EPA standards were put into effect.

As a founder and current cochair of the NextGen 911 Caucus with Mr. Shimkus in the House, I have fought to modernize our 911 call centers.

Finally, we can't forget about our Nation's 911 call centers.

We also need to look at ways to spur innovation in the public safety device market.
