The United States has been and continues to be a champion of free and open markets.
We need a constitutional balanced budget now. It should be the most important thing we are talking about.
Can any of us honestly look into the eyes of the American people and tell them that we expect that to change without a constitutional constraint?
But without a balanced budget, what followed over the last two decades has been yearly waves of Federal deficits.
Can we instead agree to finally take on the tough choices that are necessary to preserve freedom and opportunity for future generations?
It's time for Congress to stop saddling future generations with the burden of crushing debts to pay for current spending.
Minor tweaks on a regular basis of that system could keep it actuarially sound.
