Bob Goodlatte is a former Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Virginia's 6th congressional district from 1993 to 2019. During his tenure, he was known for his work on issues related to agriculture, technology, and internet policy. The Judiciary Committee plays an important role in examining how the Department spends taxpayer dollars.
I am pleased to take part in this hearing on oversight of the Justice Department grant programs.
It troubles me that if they take that, remix it and are able to exploit it and offer it...
I am greatly concerned that the problems with these grantees, and many others, went unnoticed by the Department for years.
We need to make every effort to complete this important hearing. And this is a very important hearing, one of the most important hearings we will hold on copyright law.
Congress should clarify that the distribution right is violated when works are made available.
I take it you don't agree with that perception. Would you elaborate on your view?
There has been long bipartisan agreement that Federal taxpayer funds should not be used to destroy innocent life.
The real radical departure here is the fact that now we will have, for the first time, Federal subsidies of health insurance policies in America.
The policy we are discussing today has likely given America the gift of millions more children.
the Committee will in the new year continue work in a very deliberative manner, but a very serious manner understanding that immigration reform is needed, and it will be a top priority.

If you don't have these numbers and you are making policy regarding whether or not you should detain people when they come in or release them, why don't you have those numbers?
doing nothing is no more an option for us than it is for the families that are being torn apart each and every day.
