Lizzie Ann Fletcher is a U.S. Representative for Texas's 7th congressional district, having served since January 3, 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she has focused on issues such as healthcare, education, and civil rights during her time in office. I believe that limiting our technology transfer discussion to the scope of a single agency's activities, we may be missing out on the big-picture issues.
We know that we ask the agency to do a lot, and often with limited resources.
I commend the Administration for establishing the Joint Committee on the Research Environment (JCORE) to tackle these and other issues affecting the American scientific enterprise.
I know that Dr. Droegemeier believes, as I do, that American superiority in science and technology is fundamental to our economic competitiveness, our national security, and our way of life.
Unfortunately, for the second year in a row it appears the majority in the U.S. House will fail to produce a budget.
It is imperative that we work together in a bipartisan, bicameral fashion to advance a budget that funds our nation's priorities while acknowledging our very real fiscal challenges.
