Kay Bailey Hutchison is a former U.S. Senator from Texas, serving from 1993 to 2013. A member of the Republican Party, she was the first woman to represent Texas in the Senate. During her tenure, Hutchison was known for her work on issues such as space exploration, military funding, and education. She played a significant role in advocating for NASA and was a strong supporter of human spaceflight initiatives. Hutchison also served as the chair of the Senate Republican Conference and was involved in various bipartisan efforts throughout her career.
So important. That is so important because we do have people who say, oh, we can do all of this so much more efficiently with no people, and just machines.
I think it really important in the sense that one of the things that you all have to do a good job as components of the agency is being able to relate what the positive things that are going on.
Can we put an orbiting satellite up with cameras that could do what the Space Station does?
Establishing our part of the Space Station as an American national laboratory was a great accomplishment.
I am a budget cutter. I am a person that wants to set the top line of a budget, but then it is so important that we set the priorities for what goes in that budget.
Yes, because I know they have done breast cancer cell growth in space. And if they could do the same for that, that would be a medical breakthrough of phenomenal proportions.
That is going to be essential because you can't manufacture enough up there to bring back very easily.
Senator Nelson and I, and many others, have tried to assure that we don't eat our seed corn, that we continue research, that we continue to reach for the stars, to go beyond where we are now.
First of all, Mr. Royston, thank you for the report. Because we are anxiously awaiting the appointment of the board so that we can see the CASIS get up and go and really start showing results.
