Looking ahead, as we debate the future of the International Space Station, we find ourselves facing a decision of equal importance to the one we faced in 1991.

Without the International Space Station, would we have a place, a durable, multination, international partnership that has strengthened this nation?

We must not permit a similar retreat when dealing with responses to climate change.

Let me state this very clearly: the reality of climate change is inescapable. Our planet is warming, and human activity is a major driver of that warming.

Let me start by expressing my disappointment that 16 months into this Administration, the Science Committee has yet to receive testimony from THE EPA Administrator, Scott Pruitt.

How can you agree for the 70 percent cuts to the energy efficiency and renewable energy and support these cuts?

It is a field that is ripe for research and innovation to ensure that life and property can be protected from the negative impacts of large-scale space weather storms.

I really do understand the challenges that we face in crumbling infrastructure.

We have had great working relationships with the Corps. We want to continue that.

Even more alarming is the President's push to privatize segments of the inland waterways system.

I would like very much to get your commitment that you will first consider the impact on local communities.

However, what we don't want is to sell off our assets to simply the highest bidders, regardless of the entity's ability to efficiently and effectively manage those assets for the public good.

If the President's proposed budget for fiscal year 2019 was enacted, DOE's renewable energy R&D portfolio would see a 60 percent reduction.

I started the STEAM Caucus and--about integrating the arts and design into STEM learning.

I encourage my colleagues on this committee to look at the Partners Act that Congressman Ferguson and I have.

I have introduced bipartisan legislation with my colleague also on the Education and Workforce Committee, Congressman Drew Ferguson from Georgia, the Bipartisan Partners Act.

But such innovations should not come at the cost of human health.
