I always believe there is a place where we can find agreement. It doesn't matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican.

I told him, well, I am going to make it my job when I get in Congress to put you out of business.

You can educate people from now until doomsday. You can get everybody a Ph.D. But if, when they get out of school, there is no job for them, you haven't really accomplished much.

We all agree on early education and intervention, breaking the cycle.

That is where we can make a difference, in those homes, in those children's lives.

America used to be called the Land of Opportunity, you know, where everybody had the opportunity to get a job.

If we want to solve this problem, we have to get our economy growing again.

The only permanent solution to this is a job. That is it.

Now who here on this panel can look at me with a straight face and tell me that that is the best way we can use our limited resources?

I will continue to work on this issue until we are able to pass these savings on to South Carolinians, Georgians, Floridians, and Alabamans.

I would like to discuss an issue that is of great importance to the Southeast: providing appropriate clarity for the nuclear production tax credit.

People need to be held accountable.

It does not work if the taxpayers do not work with us, and in order for the taxpayers to do that, they have to have a level of confidence in the IRS.

I think what is here between us on both sides of the aisle is a recognition that the health care system is not working in America.

I was offended by my colleague on the other side of the aisle who referenced that somehow the Republican agenda is to take away health care for people in America.

Mr. Kreisberg, you work for a big public sector labor union, correct?

How many of those workers are covered under the Obamacare exchanges?

Do you think if you moved all of your members to the exchanges that that would increase their satisfaction with their health care coverage or decrease it?

I am very concerned about that. But I am willing to put all options before us to have a wide open debate.

The First Amendment is fundamental to the freedom of the United States. Nothing more fundamental than that.

If you want to be a great Nation, you are going to have to have a well-educated people.

I think it would be great if you and Professor West could come here to Congress and teach a couple of those classes.

We have to do whatever we can to protect the First Amendment on university campuses.

Throwing cash at this problem is not going to solve this problem.

We need to do more. We need to do better.
