What is the process that occurs with a stakeholder reaches out to the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties?

The Transportation and Security Administration has shown itself over and over again and the TSOs how they have been the front line of our security.

I think it is very important that either we as the Congress continues to increase that funding, but also I would encourage developing the expertise at DHS as well.

I can say, unequivocally, that the war on drugs was a failure of policy.

We know the harm we've done with the disparate sentencing around crack cocaine. It doesn't save us anything to not reverse those decisions for people that are inside.

I think this is a lesson we teach young people in preschool and in middle school, in high school and college and adults, and we say, you made a mistake, let's talk about it, let's talk through our feelings, and let's move forward.

Congress' approach to crack cocaine and the entire framework of mandatory minimum sentences is one example of how the failed war on drugs destroyed communities for generations.

As the Supreme Court has acknowledged, I've been fighting to change these disparities for over a decade, and I will continue to do so as we seek to end mandatory minimum sentencing.

Representative Lee led a similar effort in the House that would have created a 1-1 ratio in H.R. 4545.

I agree, and this is why I am working on legislation with the Senate, and we intend to introduce legislation in short order to address this issue in Terry.

Juneteenth is as significant to African-Americans as it will be to Americans, because we too are Americans. And it means freedom.

It only represents or acts as a civil rights buffer to the disastrous response that poor people have been able to--unfortunately have been the victims there of.
