The Public Record
For the first time since I have been here as a Member of Congress, 5 years now, are we even talking about, in a meaningful way, what we are going to do in approximately 15 years from now when the dramatic shortfall hits the Social Security Trust Fund.
I also want to stress for all of us on both sides of the aisle to seriously and definitively deal with this issue in this Congress.
I want to thank the witnesses for your testimony today and for the highlighting of this critically important issue.
Excuse me. Then the President should instruct his Attorney General and the Department of Justice to do what they are obligated to do, which is to defend the Affordable Care Act, by the way, provisions of which, such as this one, the American people overwhelmingly support.
But not even a month after releasing the Blueprint, the Trump Administration told a Federal court that it would not defend the provision in the Affordable Care Act that protects people with preexisting conditions.
Yes or no, will you encourage the Trump Administration to change its position and defend the preexisting conditions protections in the Affordable Care Act?
If this Administration is actually serious about addressing drug pricing, I'd encourage you and the whole Administration to go even further on the direct-to-consumer issue and work with Congress on ending these outrageous tax breaks and, frankly, getting rid of these ads all together.
